Snæfellsjökull, Ísland
This “museum” is an old barn which its lone curator has filled with a huge variety of old Icelandic… things… mostly of a nautical nature. Far more interesting than the exhibits is the curator himself; an enthusiastic grey-haired shark fisherman who will excitedly usher you in, plonk an old fisherman’s hat on your head and explain (in Icelandic plus enthusiastic arm motions) how him, his father and grandfather hunted sharks in THIS boat with THIS chain and THESE are the things which they found in the shark’s stomach.
This place is also paticularly notable for having the only fermented shark in Iceland which actually tastes good. You can see it hanging in the small shed nearby.
