Cheers — I'm not actually trying to bend it (more trying to avoid that!). I'm making a Hurdy Gurdy, and the aluminium shaft will stick out about 1cm from the end, so I want to avoid it bending. As soon as I can access a more powerful lathe, I'll make a stainless steel shaft, but for the moment ally'll have to do.

yea you can bend it with a hammer. If you want precice bends, I would suggest wraping one end in a thin cloth [to prevent marring, if you care about that], then put it in a vice and bend it.

Depending on what kind of alloy. Hammertaps for sure, only problem with Aluminium is that it gets harder when deformed, so do it right the first time.

hey, I've got a prototype for an audio amplifier with a NE5522 op-amp- here is the link. http://www.forosdeelectronica.com/f31/amplificador-auriculares-9v-instrumento-18231/ the final circuit is here: http://img209.imageshack.us/img209/5063/head9vawa.gif its in spanish but if you're interested we can chat about it. I made the protoboard and its pretty cool. You can add to the signal an audio input plus the signal from a electric guitar or bass.

TBH I quite like it :) — if nothing else, the music is extremely successfully written, as it is highly catchy.

That's funny! Though please don't hate me if I say I rather like West Side Story, dated though it is.

Yeah,, html5 beta on youtube is working but just barely.

@MFPA 'fraid not, no :( One of the problems is the requirement of vorbis encoding — I'm not sure all YT videos come in that flavour. The youtube 'html5' beta thing is adequate, but not great.

safari extension which converted any YT video to HTML5
I don't suppose you know if there is an extension for Firefox to do that?

"I don't know, dad. Seemed a little bigger than that."
"Wha? Well, right...right. Um...it was just one of those laboratory numbers. You know the ones..."

The "flashed" messages you get when signing in, editing stuff, removing stuff, etc…

That'd be the ones. They're small and animated and pop down from the top when you share with someone.

Probably talking about the yellow notifications that appear when you log in ("Signed In Successfully").
