Still doesn' t replace Diaspora. I have a Wordpress account but use it for writing I have thought out more than these type of posts. More like essays. This is a lighter less serious medium, and not sure how you would integrate it into a blog, unless using the blog as a public journal. You are right though a domain gives bragging rights! If I didn' t have an insanely low bandwith cap where I live then I would be running a pod. the great thing about diaspora is it mimicks the inrfrastructure of the internet and merges the best ideas of FB and Twitter. With an easier install it really can take off.

Only floor! I may be moving soon to a larger area though. The gurdy is coming along well, I think I'm about half way through but I'm not entirely sure as I haven't made one before. Would love to see pics of your metal shop!

I've been getting on great with the mandolin. I've only been playing for a few months, but I'm really enjoying it. Can't really claim to be all that good yet, though. What other kinds of instruments do you build?

Hah, one of my friends was highly enthralled by a homeless fellow with a hurdy gurdy late one night after the pub. I am a fan!!

@Robert Cheers — yep, they're a bit obscure and can be really expensive. If this one goes well I'll be able to ramp up production, and plan to sell this model at around £1000 — this is still mainly done by hand, though. How're you getting on with the mandolin?

I don't know of any specifics, but you may want to look at the repositories used by Ubuntu Studio. That distribution ships with a lot that might fit your needs.
