CSS, Y U NO HAVE STRING CONCATENATION?
Tonight I feel like wrangling some CSS. I want to make it do things it probably shouldn’t. Amongst other things, fixing rel=external
.
Human Planet still makes the best use of subtitles I’ve ever seen. Strangely the punctuation has no text shadow, though.
Is it just me who judges monospaced fonts by whether or not - and > line up vertically?
@cssquirrel in theory CSS preprocessors should take care of that for us. I don’t use them, do they get updated quickly?
@cssquirrel nope! Vendor extensions are a very good (if tiresome) thing, provided they’re deprecated as soon as the naked declaration is standardised.
@Malarkey grip affordance?
@jmwhittaker Aral Balkan even better, make a time lapse of the website. Pefect use of version control :)
@simonw wish I was there, Lanyrd’s homescreenable(?) mobile website is one of the best examples I’ve seen so far.
@malarkey WTF?! “Dear sir, I cannot read your content because THERE IS A FUCKING MAN SHOUTING OVER IT”

Having a great time discussing design and UX with my awesome photographer friend
I really regret not having used version control over the entire lifetime of my site, I’d love to make a time lapse /cc Jeremy Keith
…and with a mere ~160 lines of code changed (including very little markup), I am much, much happier with the overall aesthetic.
Decided I’m sick of my current site design, but that with a few very small changes I can make it look a whole lot better. Woo design iteration!
.@malarkey I found that bug again, on @tommorris’ site: http://photos.waterpigs.co.uk/p/oj — Inspection revealed nothing, refresh fixed. Worth reporting?
@kaelig Laura Kalbag woo. despite blatant visibility principle violation, that’s useful.
