“I'd rather host my data and live with such awkwardness in the open than be a sharecropper on so many beautiful social content farms.” Tantek Çelik
Just found Tantek Çelik’s follow up to the long discussion too: http://tantek.com/2011/010/b1/owning-your-data — good read on the origins of POSSE and why tweets are worth storing #indieweb
Also RE twitter syndication UX: with self hosted notes we have the chance to make a really robust threaded/branched conversation model via rel
values, something @twitter lacks /cc Tom Morris #indieweb
Here is the wrap-up of @t and @zeldman and others discussing self hosting and links: http://notes.tomhenrich.com/2011/01/own-your-data/ /cc @tommorris #indieweb/
Note that myself and Aaron Parecki are overcoming some of these UX issues with things like Indieweb Reply, syndicated conversations and smart truncenation algorithms.
Tom Morris no-one's complained about it, but I have very few followers :) I know @zeldman complained at Tantek Çelik before, I’ll try to find his article about it
tommorris yay! I feel honoured you've taken the time to install it on Christmas Day :) So does ferocity send/receive pingbacks? Next step is to stop relying on twitter for reply/notification infrastructure.
lkdto that would be great! It helps awesome things like the indentengine.com API exist
tommorris agreed. I am amazed that there is such a consumer culture in such a creative, technically-able community
lkdto how about rel=me

Jeremy Keith did you see the extension I’ve been working on to empower users to republish content on their own sites? https://github.com/barnabywalters/IndieWeb-Reply-Browser-Extension
Indieweb Reply in action:
SFW blows my mind again:
Indieweb Reply now supports post/reply/favourite/follow verbs, G+ and FB like buttons #indieweb
Are there any indiewebcamp designers who could make some little icon graphics for IndieWeb Reply? Would be a great way to contribute and highly appreciated!
Updates to IndieWeb Reply mean that it is now cross browser using the exact same codebase courtesy of kangoextensions.com!
“Your identity.com account is yours to keep and cannot be totally deactivated” (em mine) is an interesting way of saying “we keep your data forever”
Hijack twitter buttons for your own purposes with my version of Aaron Parecki’s Indieweb Reply extension: https://github.com/barnabywalters/IndieWeb-Reply-Browser-Extension
Current status: hacking Aaron Parecki’s IndieWeb Twitter Reply Extension into something more structured and extendable. #webactions in action!
