Notes, tips and techniques relating to the use of sandpaper in a lutherie context.

Sandpaper is a tool. Use it like one.

Long, smooth strokes of even pressure in one direction down the instrument. Never ‘rub’ with sandpaper, stroke with it. Don’t use low grit sandpapers – if it’s that rough, it needs a scraper or metal sandpaper! Before finishing, all surfaces must be smoothed with 320, and all sharp corners must be taken off.
