Our property has so many saplings, and so many trees in weird places, that right now it’s more important to fell the problematic ones (e.g. maples growing into large oak canopies), and manage the growth of the useful ones. Fortunately Philipp (the chainsaw wielder) is a forester and knows all sorts of clever stuff about trees. We plan on planting a bunch of new fruit trees in the garden in the near future!
