    That was the first article I found, but for some reason I didn’t realise that my fuelband (which is an older version, not the SE mentioned in that article) had bluetooth support at all — I only figured that out when I saw the antenna trace! I reattached the batteries, downloaded a BTLE python library and tried to connect to it, but didn’t have any success sadly.

    I did a bit more research and it turns out that there are hundreds of cheap Chinese-made “smart watches”, available for €10-€30, some of which are based on easily reprogrammable MCUs. I ordered on for experimentation — a 32bit MCU dev board with accelerometer, BTLE, heartrate monitor, OLED display and battery charging in a tiny, wearable package for €15 is a pretty good deal!
