1. Sandeep Shetty: .@BarnabyWalters Oxymoron: "Ghost is a Node.js application... which means it can run pretty much anywhere" http://t.co/6pkZMQrqg7 #indieweb

sandeepshetty mm, I hope they chose node.js over (for example) PHP due to it’s strong points, not because of PHP’s limitations. That’s certainly not how it comes across in their blog post :/

  2. Just realised that I haven’t turned on the TV for a month. Instead been walking, making things, watching films, reading. Feels good.

  3. tryghost.org looks interesting from an point of view, but if they are so open, where is the code? Where is the CC-0 documentation? Why does clicking “Try It” pop up a modal asking you to give them money (dark pattern, much?) — if it’s so open, be honest!

It’ll be interesting to see how this one plays out.

  4. Had rather a long, interesting and slightly awkward conversation with some Icelandic chaps in a bar, covering the difference between belief and knowledge, origins of the Icelandic people and the nature of tools.

Conclusions: Humans are the only animals to create recursive tools, and I am (apparently) an alchemist.

  5. The windows mobile device I’m testing on is at 0% battery, isn’t charging and powers down every 30 secs. Problem is, it then starts up again. Best put it out of it’s misery.

  6. Testing websites on old windows mobile devices is an… experience.

Connecting to WiFi gave me the option of connecting to “The Internet” or “Work” (?).

On form submit using the software keyboard, I get a dialog warning me about the certificate, with the options “yes” and “no” but no question. Turns out the software keyboard was hiding “Do you want to proceed?”

Now I’m finally in the site, there’s no support for label, so those nice big touch targets I made are mostly useless. Also, there’s no text wrapping.

  7. Aaron Parecki woah, brilliant! Love the fact you're self hosting video too — what’s your workflow for that? I was thinking of building a mandrill-backed email inbox for photo and video upload so I can post from iOS really easily

  8. Hurdy players: save the rosin you were applying to the foot of the chien for the chien string slot, but be aware that this trick won’t cure a badly shaped slot.
