Shape clay into a vessel; It is the space within that makes it useful. Cut doors and windows for a room; It is the holes which make it useful. Let me know what you think it means in the comments or at http://waterpigs.co.uk/tao-te-ching/chapters/8/ --- The highest good is like water. Water gives life to the ten thousand things and does not strive. It flows in places men reject and so is like the Tao. In dwelling, be close to the land. In meditation, go deep in the heart. In dealing with others, be gentle and kind. In speech, be true. In ruling, be just. In daily life, be competent. --- #taoism #philosophy

Let me know what you think it means in the comments or at http://waterpigs.co.uk/tao-te-ching/chapters/2/ -- Under heaven all can see beauty as beauty only because there is ugliness. Let me know what you think it means in the comments (it's so damned cryptic!), and I'll compile it all into an interactive book on my website. It'll take 81 days. Don't worry, the chapters are really short! #taoism

  10. On the bus ride home, I hear two girls conversing about what they're going to go to a halloween party in. One replies to the other: "Well, I think I'll go as a goddess… … … or a hot dog" It took a *lot* of concentration to stop myself from bursting out laughing. Thanks for brightening up an otherwise dull journey!

  11. For the record, my view on then editing feature is that we should be able to edit our posts/comments provided there are no newer comments 'downstream' of the edited one. I see this as analogous to real conversation — you can only easily take something back (without embarrassment, awkwardness or extraneous explanation) before any serious reactions have been made to it. The edited version should indicate the edited state, just for clarity.
