Spent this morning meeting a very interesting old hurdy gurdy owned by some very interesting people. Tomorrow we’re off to find a lathe with which to fix it.
Back in Reykjavík after the thoroughly enjoyable Vaka festival! Many new friends made, tunes and dances learned. Thanks to everyone involved for putting on such a great event!
Now to catch up on four days of no German practice…
Last minute reminder: VAKA is in Akureyri from this Wednesday! Join us for four days of Northern European folk music, dancing, workshops and crafts.
Spotted this nice lichen-covered stone hiking near Meðalfellsvatn this weekend:

All booked up for this year’s vakafolk.is. See you in Akureyri in June!
Last year’s Tradition for Tomorrow in Akureyri was a fun festival, and this June it’s being re-born as Vaka. There’s a bunch of awesome artists playing including Jackie Oates, SANS and Dråm. I will be going! You should too.
Summer must be here, the bikers and skaters have arrived in Ingólfstorg again!
Went to my first climbing tournament at Klífurhúsið today. I was worried it was going to be all competitive and difficult, but it was loads of fun, with a surprising number of easy-to-somewhat-challenging (for me, approx. V2) routes. Finished with 62/220 points, looking forward to improving on that at the next one!
Anyone in Reykjavík know of a Ferguson #justiceformikebrown solidarity march/protest or want to organise one?

Some fish packing company was giving away free yoyos on sjómannadagur! Iceland is the best.
Thanks to everyone who tried/bought our granola this morning! Had a blast selling it with @brennannovak and meeting you all. This isn’t the end of Reykjavík Granola Co., stay tuned for more…
#iceland: the only country in the world where there’s a brick and mortar store dedicated to frisbee golf but it’s impossible to buy dried cherries.
