Woke up to a freshly glued hurdy Gurdy. That's a good feeling.

Secret Gurdy Feature: This image showed a secret feature, so I had to block it out in accordance with the laws of secrecy (Chapter 14, Section 47, Sub-section 19: If a photo contains something secret, it must be blended up in a manner most unusual) http://flic.kr/p/bCLGr6
More #gurdy progress — spent the morning routing some of the keyslots http://www.flickr.com/photos/53044388@N05/sets/72157629073455152/
Here's a little video of my current Gurdy build, 1/3 of the way through: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cPvyiA9MTi4
More gurdy progress: The compulsory 'photo with all the pegs in', as the top linings go in http://www.flickr.com/photos/53044388@N05/sets/72157629073455152/
Another productive day's hurdy gurdy making, although I was annoyed to find my salvaged MIDI ports only had three of the five connectors :(
Progress has been made on my current Hurdy Gurdy build! http://dia.so/2cX
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7yDM_Rik3s my version of Nigel Eaton's 'halsway carol'. Originally played on a Hurdy Gurdy, then copied by various other instruments, this is my iPad/animoog version. #music #ipad
Highly productive day Gurdy making! Several kilos of shavings produced, a mixture of mahogany, Sitka spruce, maple and cedrella.
(The relevant part is the spoken intro and the first verse, but the rest is good too)

The band in this video are Show of Hands — from Devon, UK. As well as playing trad music, they write songs (often to do with current affairs) in a trad/folk/rock/un classifiable style. And they have a fairly unique approach to piracy, as you will have heard if you watch the video.
They encourage their fans to copy their CDs. They're also highly supportive of fans taping their concerts and posting them on YouTube. In fact, they posted a link to this video and the others from that concert on their blog!
They do this because they know that the real money is in live performances. A copied cd is extra free publicity for them, and peer marketing is far more effective than traditional advertising — so much so that facebook have made a business out of it. And a taped concert can only ever give a small taste of what it's really like to be at a live concert.
In summary: if piracy is such a big problem to artists, bands and producers, it's because they cannot adapt, and are too myopic/greedy to usenet it for what it is — in the words of Steve knightely, "it's not theft or piracy, it's generosity (and bloody good free marketing for me)".

Photos are a cardboard mockup in the adjustable mould, and a pot of screw-in tangents.
Working on Gurdy plans… #music #lutherie #folkmusic
Tip/Challenge for amateur acoustic #music producers/#recording engineers: Get some audio from a live performance off youtube. It'll be badly recorded, probably with a camera mic that rolls off over 10kHz or something like that.
It's great EQ practise.

Photos contain short descriptions, but feel free to ask if I've not explained the strange looking machines well enough!
To any musical iPad users: Moog is doing a release sale of it's Animoog synth, for 69p. It's a fantastic synth! Take advantage of the 90% sale. http://moogmusic.com/products/apps/animoog/ #iPad #music #synth #moog
Added plenty of tunes to WPSM, cleaned up some of the ABC, made the search work better and given the UI a bit of a revamp. Sheet music now shown on tune pages! More coming soon. #hurdygurdy #folkmusic #abc
